[pci] pci target development status

Hi all,

We are a couple of electrical engineering students from Uruguay, tryting
to complete our thesis. Our goal is to have a working open source pci
core. When we started looking what was out there, we found opencores and
the pci-bridge project.

Our project would include:
* working target core running in Altera FPGAs.
* device driver module for linux 2.4 kernels.
* "home made" pci board with fpgas and other useful stuff (not yet
  defined).

We would like to know if it is possible to contribute to the pci-bridge
project, fundamentally in the pci target module. If so, we would like know
the status of development, to know where to start in cvsweb. If you could
tell us about the tools you are using, hardware, any prototybe boards you
have designed yourself, etc., it would be great.

At the moment we have an old arc-pci board from Altera (with 3 flex
10k50rc240-3, 4 sram memory slots, pll, etc). We could make work a pci
core from altera sythetized with a custom application for memory
mamagement. In this setup we could make read/write single/busrt
transactions with a custom linux module that uses memcpy_toio and
memcpy_toio among others.

We have the following tools available:
* Quartus and Max+Plus for synthesis.
* Logic analyzer HP 1661CS
* PCs.
* 2 ARC-PCI boards

thank you all,

Sebastian
