Sorry I do not agree.
Analog devices and Burr-Brown (now Texas Instruments) - and probably more -
still make high-end (Tripple)DACs and RAM-DACs. There are many video
applications requiring Video-DACs which do not use standard graphics chips,
this is the market for these devices.
Check their website. Oddly enough they manufacture more devices than are
listed on their web. But you'll get the idea.

Not true again. YUV is a favorite for digital video (as in digital PAL and
digital NTSC), but not for video-displays. This is - and probably will be -
RGB, becuase monitors work with RGB colors.
