perhaps you want cores with just a little testbench so that
there is lots you can add?
I'm no expert with the opencores catalog, I'm sure maost
know more. I had no significant issues with the I2C core
for example. I used verilog due to recent experiences, but
mostly it ran. If it all works, there is nothing to learn!
