Re: [oc] RS Codec

Hello all,
I have a lot of experience in development of digital modems. I first
thought of helping the opencores with developing some kind of USB
controller, but as the USB project in not yet on the way, I might be of more
help with the digital modem project.
I have done a modem with a combination of RF elements and digital
element to save on logic elements. I was hoping of getting to code the whole
thing on an FPGA. There are a few digital ASICs I have considered using in
making a digital modem, those are of graychip company www.graychip.com
please take a look at those. They can help also because they should most of
their implementation in the data sheets. Those devices are suitable for
realy high speeds of data, impressive. So we might consider a high speed
modem also.
Also I am interested in two more things. One is the systemC you talked
about. I have been considering working with systemC for quite a while, I
have downloaded the code and read some of the instructions. I have some
problems in trying to make some models using the system but that is for
later discussions, what I still don't know is how do you synthesize the
systemC code into an FPGA. Are there sythesizers already made for this
purpose?
Another issue is of free tools. I have some commertial tools I am
working in, but I promised not to use those for non job related work. Can
you tell me of a working configuration for VHDL environment (I mean
compiler, simulator, wave display, synthesize and so on) till now I have
checked a lot of free stuff but none of them could realy do the job.

Thanks, Lior Shtram
